AboutTA's Bronx Volunteer Committee is open to everyone who has an interest in biking, walking, and public transit in The Bronx. We will be having meetings on the second Wednesday of the month starting on May 9, 2012. May's location: Andrew Freedman Home, 1125 Grand Concourse, Bronx NY 10452.
MissionTransportation Alternatives' mission is to reclaim New York City's streets from the automobile, and to advocate for bicycling, walking and public transit as the best transportation alternatives. The Transportation Alternatives Bronx Volunteer Committee's goal is to seize on the recent surge in bicycling, street redesign and new park space to improve bicycling, walking and public transit conditions in The Bronx. The Committee will be hosting numerous rides and walks, and is a presence at tabling, bike valet and other outreach opportunities around the borough.
DescriptionThe Transportation Alternatives Bronx Committee was founded in 1993, and was one of TA's most successful volunteer campaigns. The Bronx Committee was involved in developing the Bronx Greenway Plan, organizing the first Safe Routes to School program in North America, and played a major role in organizing the Tour de Bronx, the largest free bike tour in N.Y.C.
